The Minnesota Vikings were dealt a share of bad news on Sunday morning when they officially learned that they would be taking on the Seattle Seahawks without star running back Dalvin Cook. But then Alexander Mattison stepped up, stepped in and led the team to a victory.
On the day Mattison finished the day with 26 carries for 112 yards and reeled in 6 catches for 59 yards in the passing game.
"We owed them that one," Mattison said of the win over the Seahawks.
And they really did. Russell Wilson led Seahawks squads had never lost to the Minnesota Vikings and Mike Zimmer had never beaten the Seahawks in regular season play. That all changed yesterday behind the arm of Kirk Cousins, the hands of Thielen and Jefferson and the legs of Alexander Mattison.
"When opportunity presents itself, just get after it," Mattison added. "Every time we play this team stuff starts to click for me."
Mattison also posted a 112 yard day last year against the Seahawks filling in for Cook then as well.
