GM Candidate Kwesi Adofo-Mensah still in town, is an announcement imminent?

The math works, I just checked. When you have two finalists for the general manager position with the Minnesota Vikings and one of them accepts another job (Chicago), that leaves one finalist who is likely to land the gig.

That's the situation we're dealing with as we wake up on this frigid Minnesota morning assuming that the last remaining candidate Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is the man. Video surfaced last night of Adofo-Mensah leaving the Vikings facility in Eagan, MN and you can hear someone from inside the building yelling, "I'll cancel your flight, let us know if you need anything." Furthermore, Internet sleuths started calling over to Manny's Steakhouse, the usual scene of the crime when the Vikings are wooing someone, and there was in fact a "private party" taking place in the back room on a random Tuesday night last night. So the pieces are starting to come together.

The second round of the interview process might be different, but for all of the first round interviews the Vikings tweeted out that they had "completed" an interview with said candidate for the position. There was no such message put out last night when Kwesi walked out of the facility. So either, the interview is still ongoing into day #2 or they're waiting for another reason, like an announcement.

When you think about it, it all makes sense. When you've got your guy, when there's no more competition or rush, spend the night. Work on getting family into town, alerting loved ones of the news, get a good night's sleep over in the Omni Viking's Lakes and prepare yourself for the biggest press conference of your life on Wednesday.

It's all coming together.

And now we can turn then page and start trying to figure out what this means for the next steps. Does it impact the head coaching decision? How will it impact any free agency situations. How early can he start working on the draft? All of the things!
