Vikings rookie camp took place this weekend! Dalvin Cook, Pat Elflein, 9 other draft picks and a bunch of undrafted guys all took the field at Winter Park as members of the Minnesota Vikings.
PA attended practice on Sunday and came loaded with a few takes and bits from what he saw. This morning #92Noon, we chatted about 5th round pick Rodney Adams, the wideout from South Florida. Rodney's road to the NFL is an interesting one, and I included an interview we did with him last week at the bottom of this page.
It's not breaking news that the WR group needs improvement for the Purple. The conversation usually starts with what fans didn't see from Laquon Treadwell in 2016 and the massive jump needed from him in year 2 but, with Charles Johnson & Cordarrelle Patterson moving on in free agency, there are spots to fill and talent needed.
Rodney Adams isn't a big name coming out of the draft, but he was certainly productive in his final two seasons at USF -- 2015: 44 catches, 816 yards, 9TDs(added a rushing and return score as well)...2016: 67 catches, 822 yards, 5TDs(236 rushing yards and 5TDs) -- 21 total touchdowns in those 2 years. We like that.
He's only 6'1" and 190lbs, so not the biggest guy in the world, but 4.4 speed puts him in immediate contention to return kicks for the Vikings in 2017. Here's PA's thoughts on Rodney and the opportunity he may have if he takes advantage of it ---->
Here's Rodney chatting with PA & Pete Bercich last week, just before Vikings rookie camp kicked off...
