Twins acquire Jaime Garcia from Atlanta

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Jaime García, catcher Anthony Recker and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Huascar Ynoa

García, 31, has a career record of 66-52 with a 3.65 ERA (1009.0 IP, 409 ER), 302 walks and 808 strikeouts in 176 appearances (165 starts) with St. Louis (2008, 2010-16) and Atlanta (2017). The left-hander has gone 4-7 with a 4.30 ERA (113.0 IP, 54 ER), 41 walks and 85 strikeouts in 18 starts for the Braves this season.

A native of Reynosa, Mexico, García finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2010, finishing the season with the fourth best ERA (2.70) in the NL. Since the start of 2015 has a record of 24-26 with a 3.87 ERA (414.1 IP, 178 ER), 128 walks and 332 strikeouts.

Recker, 33, has appeared in 206 career major league games with Oakland (2011-12), Cubs (2012), Mets (2013-15) and Atlanta (2016-17) batting .199 (110-for-552) with 28 doubles, 18 home runs and 70 RBI. In 41 games this season for Triple-A Gwinnett has a .223 (31-for-139) average with eight doubles and four home runs. The right-handed hitter was originally selected by the Athletics in the 18th round of the 2005 draft.

Ynoa, 19, has a career minor league record of 5-11 with a 3.05 ERA (129.2 IP, 44 ER), 54 walks and 118 strikeouts in 30 starts. The Puerto Plata, DR native was originally signed by Twins scout Fred Guerrero as an undrafted free agent on July 2, 2014.

The Twins made a corresponding roster move sending Kyle Gibson down to AAA Rochester.
