Twins Sign Second-Baseman Jonathan Schoop | KFAN 100.3 FM

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed second baseman Jonathan Schoop to a one-year contract.

Schoop, 27, has played six seasons in the major leagues for the Baltimore Orioles (2013-18) and the Milwaukee Brewers (2018). The right-handed hitting Schoop played 85 games for Baltimore in 2018, batting .244 (85-for-349) with 17 home runs, 18 doubles, 40 RBI and 12 walks before being traded to Milwaukee in July, where he appeared in 46 games, batting .202 (25-for-124) with four home runs, four doubles, 21 RBI and 16 runs. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound second baseman was originally signed by the Orioles as an amateur free agent in 2008.

The Curacao native appeared in seven games for Team Netherlands in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, hitting .300 (6-for-27) with four RBI and four runs scored. He was also selected to the 2017 All-Star Game, his first career All-Star Game selection and went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored, while playing 3.0 innings at second base for the American League. Schoop was a member of the Little League World Series championship team from Willemstad, Curacao in 2004, recording the save in the finale against Thousand Oaks, California.

He has appeared in 681 career games, batting .258 (640-for-2484) with 130 doubles, two triples, 110 home runs, 333 RBI and 98 walks.
