FORT MYERS, FL– The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcherXavier Mooreand cash considerationsfrom the Texas Rangers in exchange for outfielderZack Granite.
Moore, 20, split last season between Single-A Spokane and AZL Rangers, going 0-1 with a 5.30 ERA (18.2 IP, 11 ER), 10 walks and 21 strikeouts in 13 games. The Amherst, Ohio native was selected by the Rangers in the 16th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.
Granite was selected by the Twins in the 14th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft and played 40 career games with the Twins, hitting .237 (22-for-93) with two doubles, one home run, 13 RBI and a .611 OPS. He was designated for release or assignment on February 25 to make room on the 40-man roster for infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez.
