A Handful of Former Vikings Players Set to Play in AAF | KFAN

It was a big debut for the Alliance of American football this weekend with big ratings, big impressions on social media and a new look at football in the United States.

There's a few new wrinkles, a few "improvements" made to the game to help the viewer experience and most of all...more football. It was supposed to be the first weekend without football, except for it wasn't.

The dream is to create a minor league system for the NFL that offers players with no more college eligibility a stage to showcase their talents.

Among the group are more than a handful of former Minnesota Vikings that you might remember.

Running back Matt Asiata scored a TD this weekend for Salt Lake. Also rostered are punter Jeff Locke (Arizona), linebacker Edmond Robinson (Arizona) defensive back Kendall James (San Diego), running back Bishop Sankey (San Diego), long snapper Jeff Overbaugh (Atlanta), quarterback Peter Pujols (Atlanta), linebacker Brandon Watts (Atlanta), and wide receiver Charles Johnson (Orlando).
