Agent Says Vikings Approached Remmers to Restructure, he declined

Earlier today the Minnesota Vikings announced that the team had terminated the contract of guard Mike Remmers. With that the team took $1.8 million in dead money, but it sounds like they had hopes that he would restructure.

According to Remmers' agent Brett Tessler, the Vikings approached Remmers with interest to restructure his contract and retain his services, Remmers and his agent declined that option.

Here is the full quote:

"The Minnesota Vikings just informed me they are releasing Mike Remmers who was moved last season from RT to RG... They approached us with the idea of restructuring, but this is the decision that was made and we look forward to our next opportunity."

It's possible that Remmers aw the writing on the wall with a new zone blocking scheme coming in. It's also possible that the dollar amount offered on the restructure was simply too low to accept. Either way, Remmers hits free agency on Wednesday and the Vikings are shopping for guards, plural.
