Vikings, Rudolph continue working towards 5-year extension | #KFANVikes

Minnesota Vikings v Green Bay Packers

As the Minnesota Vikings kicked off OTAs at TCO Performance Center most of the eyes on hand were focused on Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr. or some combination of the group.

The team's salary cap situation remains a concern as the season sits around the corner. There's questions, there's rumors and there's concerns for what might have to be done heading into the regular season.

According to Rudolph today, both sides are continuing to work towards a restructured contract that would relieve some cap space and keep Kyle in Purple.

"The Vikings, my agent they are working very hard to get something done," Rudolph shared after OTAs wrapped up.

Then he threw in this kicker...

"With that being said, there are plenty of other teams that are interested as well."

WHAT?!?

A few things here. That's a BOLD statement coming from someone who has, generally speaking, been Switzerland throughout his career. And how does he know that? He's under contract with the Vikings, I guess tampering isn't a concern.

To be clear, Kyle said that he's been told there are other teams interested, I'm still not sure exactly what that means though.

"[Both sides] are working," Kyle continued. "We're in a tough situation here [with the salary cap], everybody knows that. That's why we have the best salary cap guy in the NFL and I think I have one of the best agents."

For Rudolph, while the business side of the game continues to rage on in the background, his daily activities remain the same. Workout, take care of his body, practice and hang with his boys. This is the fun part of the year, everybody's optimistic and back together for the first time.

Lest we let rumors of trades and cuts get in the way of that.
