Hindsight being 20/20, it was a failed experiment, one which we all thought was coming to an end this season. According to reports, that end has come and the Vikings have cut ties with former first round selection, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.
Treadwell was the last of a rush of first round receivers drafted in the first round of the 2016 Draft. The Vikings had a need at wideout and the supposed deep class had many to offer for teams in need.
But three seasons later, Treadwell had only tallied 56 catches for 517 yards finding pay-dirt in the end zone only once over those three seasons. Off the field it didn't sound much better with coaches commenting on shortcomings and struggles he was experiencing.
Laquon wasn't alone in the failures of that 2016 first round class either. As of today, all four first round picks have seen struggles, cuts and the looming shadow of the second round wideouts who are now stars in the league.
