The trend of negative news for the Vikings defense continued Friday afternoon just one day before their divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Already having been ruled OUT for Saturdays game after opting for arthroscopic surgery to replace a torn meniscus, nickel corner Mackensie Alexander was placed on season ending injured reserve Friday ruling him out for any subsequent playoff games the Vikings may have going forward.
Additionally, one of their backup nickel corner options Jayron Kearse was originally listed as DOUBTFUL for the 49ers game with toe/knee injuries has now been downgraded to OUT.
In reality, it leaves them in the same position they were in last weekend against New Orleans but any hope or optimism to get either of those guys back has now been squashed.
