Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings have multiple holes that need to be addressed. This week on KFAN.com, there will be a series of draft prospects being highlighted before the draft starts on Thursday night.
The Vikings desperately need help at the cornerback position with all of their losses to free agency. On top of the position being one of the biggest needs, Mike Zimmer is known for using early round draft capital on cornerbacks.
Kristian Fulton is a cornerback coming off a National Championship winning season with the LSU Tigers. He is at his best in man coverage, plays in a physical manner and uses his long arms to his advantage. He is not known for being a ballhawk type corner, but that is certainly something he can work on when he gets to the next level.
If the Vikings have interest in Fulton, either pick 22 or 25 would more than likely have to be used on him. After Jeff Okudah and C.J. Henderson, it is uncertain who will be the next cornerback off the board. There are other teams right in front of the Vikings that also need a cornerback, so it will be interesting to see how the dominos fall on draft night.
There are several talented cornerbacks that might slip into the second round. If that’s the case, the Vikings might be able to take advantage of a trade giving them more picks and a player with more value in the second round. Fulton will more than likely be a first round pick, but crazier things have happened on draft night.
Stay tuned for more draft profiles coming throughout this week on KFAN.com. The profiles will be addressing positions of need for the Vikings, and there will also be reaction pieces available after each day of the draft.
