Vikings Part Ways With Special Teams Coordinator Marwan Maalouf

The Minnesota Vikings struggles on special teams were well documented this season.

As a recap, the Vikings finished last in the NFL with a 68.2% field goal percentage making only 15 field goals on the season. Their punting average was third worst in the league averaging just 43.5 yards per punt and the coverage was even worst dropping them to second worst with a punting net of 36.7 yards.

It was assumed that changes would be made and today during his post season press conference Mike Zimmer confirmed that special teams coordinator Marwan Maalouf would not be returning. Asked about the future of the position, Zimmer responded saying that Maalouf's contract had expired at the end of the season and he had informed him that it would not be renewed.

Zimmer will spend the next few week's evaluating the 2020 team and looking at who might be available to fill the position for the upcoming season.
