Antoine Winfield Jr. dedicates Bucs' win to his dad and the 2009 Vikings

Divisional Round - Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New Orleans Saints

The Vikings and their fan base may not have a lot to smile about over the current playoff picture, but another early exit for the New Orleans Saints might do the trick.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took down the Saints with a final score of 30-20. This is the fourth season in a row that a stacked Saints team has faced an early exit from the playoffs.

Vikings fans have been lucky enough to enjoy knocking the Saints out of the playoffs in two of those four years, but this year a player with ties to Minnesota brought up the 2009 Vikings’ loss on a social media post following the game.

Antoine Winfield Jr. played a big role in the Buccaneers’ win over the saints, finishing his day with six tackles and a forced fumble that was recovered by Devin White.

In his post on Instagram Winfield Jr. dedicated the win to his father, who of course was a part of the Vikings’ loss to the Saints in 2009.

The former Minnesota Gopher showed no signs of remorse with his Instagram post, stating that he ‘made some grown men cry last night and I don’t feel bad about it!”

Despite not making the playoffs after a roller coaster ride of a season in 2020, Vikings fans can at least get a good night's sleep knowing that Sean Payton and his Saints have been eliminated from the playoffs early for the fourth straight season.

It’s been over ten years since Bountygate took place, but karma has shown no signs of slowing down in New Orleans.
