Vikings select Virginia Tech OT Christian Darrisaw with No. 23 overall pick

2021 NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings were one of the many teams rumored to have interest in trading back in the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Those rumors turned into reality when Rick Spielman and company decided to move out of the 14th overall selection in exchange for a pair of third-round draft picks.

Despite moving back nine total spots, the Vikings were still able to land one of the top tackle prospects in this year's class. Former Virginia Tech Offensive Tackle Christian Darrisaw fell into the laps of the Vikings at 23 and he’s a perfect fit for their outside zone scheme.

Darrisaw stands at 6’5”, 314 pounds and has plenty of length for the position. His athleticism and mobility for his size is something to get excited about and he truly has the capability of becoming a long-term fix for the Vikings at left tackle.

Here’s a quick write up on the former Hokie from earlier this month

It was a great first night for the Vikings, who now have loaded up plenty of picks to move around however they please on day two. On top of landing a top-three tackle prospect they’ve also set themselves up for another potentially deep draft class.
