Report: CB Bashaud Breeland visited the Vikings on Thursday

Super Bowl LIV - San Francisco 49ers v Kansas City Chiefs

It seems likely that the Vikings have their three starting cornerbacks set for 2021 with the additions of Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander earlier this offseason. However, after trading away Mike Hughes and the uncertainty revolving around Jeff Gladney’s situation, the Vikings need depth at the position.

Nate Taylor of The Athletic in Kansas City reported on Thursday that the Vikings had a veteran cornerback in for a visit.

Bashaud Breeland has played in 94 games throughout his career totaling 376 tackles, 14 interceptions, eight forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.

The seven-year veteran spent the last two seasons with the Chiefs and played a vital role in winning the Lombardi Trophy two years ago. Breeland intercepted Jimmy Garoppolo and led the team in tackles in Super Bowl LIV.

The Vikings need depth in the secondary and Breeland would be a big addition at this point of the season. Mike Zimmer has noted that there can never be too many good cornerbacks on a roster, and a signing of Breeland would boost a secondary that struggled in 2020.
