With the NHL's trade deadline coming later this afternoon at 2pm central, and the Minnesota Wild suddenly surging winner's of their last three, General MAnager Paul Fenton is stuck in a tough spot. He already traded one of the team's young players with potential in Charlie Coyle and now he has to decide whether to push for this year or look to the future?
We've already seen Nino and Coyle shipped out, we heard names like Zucker considered and now according to The Athletic's Michael Russo on deadline day the new hot name being bounced around is Mikael Granlund.
Joining The Power Trip Morning Show this morning Russo said the following:
"Any trade [the Wild] make are not going to be selloffs," Russo said. "What [Fenton] will be doing is trying tog et a player that has huge upside but can also play right now."
Russo went on to say that player might not be as good of an all around player as Mikael Granlund right now but the contract will be better, he will probably be younger, he could contribute right away and has upside that of Granlund in the future.
