The Wild had a deal in place to trade Zucker to Calgary, but it fell apart

It was an entertaining finish to the NHL's trade deadline for the Minnesota Wild earlier today as General Manager Paul Fenton traded away both Mikael Granlund and Matt Hendricks, also finding some time to ink Eric Staal to a two year extension at the last minute.

But it was the deal that didn't get done that might end up being the most interesting one.

For weeks now we've heard that forward Jason Zucker's name was being thrown about in trade talks. He's young, talented and has a relatively team friendly contract, one that Fenton himself might not have loved. As the deadline approached, Zucker's name fell to the back burner as Granlund popped up. But early Tuesday evening both Pierre LeBrun and our guy Michael Russo started sharing a report that the Calgary Flames and Minnesota Wild had a deal in place and ready to go to send Zucker to Canada...but it fell through.

As reported, nobody knows why it fell apart right now or who the Flames were giving up, but we do know that our guy here at The FAN Jason Zucker is still wearing the Wild Sweater and gets to stay here for what looks like a couple more years.
